Plain English first: DeskBaby is a free toy for curious little hands. We built it in good faith, it has no ads, collects no data, and costs nothing. But no software is perfect. Stay nearby, keep your work saved, and use your judgement as a parent. The details below say the same thing in legal terms.
DeskBaby is provided free of charge, as-is, with no warranties of any kind, express or implied. We make no guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will behave identically across all browsers, operating systems, or devices.
By using DeskBaby you accept that you do so entirely at your own risk.
DeskBaby uses the browser's Fullscreen API to lock the display when a session starts. This is designed to prevent accidental tab-switching and app-closing. However, this lock is not absolute.
It can be bypassed by keyboard shortcuts (e.g. Escape, Cmd+Tab, Alt+F4), the device power or home button, browser crashes, operating system interruptions, or devices that do not support the Fullscreen API (notably iOS Safari in non-PWA mode).
We strongly recommend saving and closing sensitive work before handing a device to a child. DeskBaby is not responsible for any lost files, closed applications, sent messages, deleted content, accidental purchases, or any other consequence of a child accessing parts of a device outside of the DeskBaby session.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, DeskBaby and its creators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, this service, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of work, or device damage.
This limitation applies regardless of whether the claim is based on warranty, contract, tort, or any other legal theory.
DeskBaby is designed as a supervised activity. We recommend that a parent or guardian remains nearby while a child is using the service, particularly for children under 3 years of age.
DeskBaby is not a substitute for parental supervision, OS-level parental controls, or dedicated child-safety software. It is intended as a fun distraction, not a childproofing solution.
We encourage parents to use DeskBaby in moderation and in line with the screen-time guidance appropriate for their child's age. DeskBaby does not impose session time limits; that responsibility rests with the parent or guardian.
DeskBaby does not require an account and does not collect any personally identifiable information from users or children. Anonymous, aggregated usage data (such as total keypresses per session) is collected solely for the purpose of understanding how the product is used. No data is sold or shared with third parties for advertising purposes.
Settings you configure (theme, sound preferences, etc.) are stored locally in your browser's localStorage and never transmitted to our servers.
While Flags mode incidentally exposes children to world geography, DeskBaby makes no formal educational or developmental claims. It is entertainment software. Any learning that occurs is a happy side effect.
We may update this page from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of DeskBaby after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
